Most kids want to be just like their parents when they grow up. And little Trinity D’Autorio is no exception.
At just three years old, the sweet little girl is fighting for her life. In 2018, she was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a rare cancerous tumor doctors found in her neck. She has Horner’s syndrome and Harlequin syndrome as well.
Trinity has already been through multiple rounds of chemotherapy, surgeries, blood transfusions, and bone marrow biopsies. With so much to deal with at such a young age, Trinity’s mom, Skyla, wanted to give her daughter something to smile about. Then, the perfect idea popped into her head. Trinity is fascinated by her dad Lou’s tattoos. So Skyla figured she’d love to wear some temporary ink of her own.
When Skyla got in touch with the Ink Wolves tattoo shop in Tampa, Florida, the tattoo artists jumped at the chance to make the little girl’s day. Trinity had a blast relaxing in their big chair as her arms were covered with Disney art.
“They designed the stencils and filled them in by hand with tattoo markers that lasted about six days,” Skyla said. “It was nonstop Disney music. It ended up being a really awesome day, and kind of like a second family.”
Trinity couldn’t wait to show off her new ink to Lou. She was so happy to look just like her dad.
And Skyla will be forever grateful to the professionals who took time out of their busy schedules to help take Trinity’s mind off of her battle with childhood cancer.
“People have this misconception of tattoo artists being these big, bad people, but to see them welcome a toddler and just love on her is amazing,” Skyla said. “It really does do your heart good because as a mom you want to take pain away from your kids.”
Distracting Trinity from that pain, even just for a little while, was the most priceless gift everyone at Ink Wolves could give. Going above and beyond like that tells us all we need to know about their hearts, which are filled with generosity and compassion. Trinity and her parents won’t forget the kindness shown to them that day.
