InspireMore does not sell personal information of its readers as the term “sell” is traditionally understood. But “sell” under the CCPA is broadly defined. It includes the sharing of personal information with third parties in exchange for something of value, even if no money changes hands. For example, sharing an advertising or device identifier to a third party may be considered a “sale” under the CCPA.
To the extent InspireMore “sells” your personal information (as the term “sell” is defined under the CCPA), you have the right to opt-out of that “sale” on a going-forward basis at any time.
If you are a California resident, to opt out of the sale of your personal information by us to third parties (and as a result, opt out of personalized advertising), you must utilize the following 3 tools to ensure that you are opted out as much as technically possible:
- Do Not Sell My Personal Information
*Note: the link above only triggers if you’re located in California. If for some reason it is not working, and you are in fact a resident of California, you can alternatively send us an email to [email protected] (in addition to the opt out tools below).
- DAA: https://optout.aboutads.info/
This tool, created by the Digital Advertising Alliance, will generate a list of participating vendors who are currently collecting data from you for the purposes of targeted advertising. You will be able to see each vendor and must then affirmatively opt out of any or all of their databases.
- NAI: https://optout.networkadvertising.org
This tool, created by the Network Advertising Initiative, will also generate a list of participating vendors who are currently collecting data from you for the purposes of targeted advertising. You will be able to see each vendor and must then affirmatively opt out of any or all of their databases.
Please note that for many of these tools, your opt-out preferences may be stored in cookies. If your browser blocks cookies, your opt-out preferences may not be effective. If you delete cookies, you may also be deleting your opt-out preferences, so you should visit these pages periodically to review your preferences or to update your choices. The above opt-out mechanisms are browser based and device specific; thus, you must opt-out on each device and on each browser to exercise your rights. InspireMore does not maintain or control the opt-out mechanisms listed in items 2-3 above and is not responsible for their operation.
Note that opting out through these channels does not mean you will no longer see ads and is specific to the device and browser you are using. You will still receive other types of ads from these companies, and any type of ad from nonparticipating companies. The sites you visit may still collect your information for other purposes.
