On Friday, a devastating tornado tore through the city of Omaha, Nebraska, a place that about 1 million people call their home. Within this populated area, a neighborhood called Elkhorn was hit particularly hard. Thankfully, no lives were lost. But many of the 485,000 residents have lost their homes. Since that day, countless folks have rallied together to help those affected by this tornado — that includes Zach Bryan.

The country singer and his band are currently in the city for a few shows on their tour. But that’s not the only reason he chose to lend a helping hand. According to Bryan, he spent many years growing up in Omaha. In turn, it was important that he give back to a community that means so much to him.

“As an American and someone who lived in Omaha for some pretty formidable years of my life, I want to offer some honest prayers and hopes to the communities affected by the tornadoes that tore through them,” Bryan writes in a caption on Instagram. “The band and I are standing with you guys as we are playing some shows in Omaha.”

“I was a fan before but now even more so,” Kristian writes. “That’s country music star Zach Bryan and my son Gavin helping with tornado cleanup. What a great human!”

In times of devastation, community becomes all-the-more vital. That’s why it’s so nice to see that even a celebrity like Bryan is happy to lend a hand when folks need it the most.

“I am so sorry to anyone that is having to deal with picking up the pieces of their homes and their lives,” Bryan’s post continues. “Without taking credit from the thousands of people lending a hand who have roots here, we love you so much and we’ll do all we can to help.”
