Jeff Bridges & Wife Susan Share Their Secrets To Lasting Love After 47 Years Of Marriage

Jeff Bridges Wife

Jeff Bridges and his wife Susan will celebrate 47 years of marriage on June 5, and their secrets to longevity are practices we could all use in our relationships.

The Oscar-winning actor met the love of his life in 1975, according to a 2018 interview on Sunday TODAY with Willie Geist. Susan was a waitress at a restaurant in Paradise Valley, Montana, where Jeff was filming Rancho Deluxe.

Jeff noticed Susan while he was on set one day, and he was instantly smitten. She, however, was unimpressed with his celebrity status, so getting a date proved to be more difficult than he expected.

“I’m doing this scene with Sam Waterston and Harry Dean Stanton,” he shared at the time. “And I cannot take my eyes off this gorgeous, I didn’t know what she was, a maid, a waitress, I couldn’t take my eyes off of her.”

Jeff mustered up “the courage to ask her out,” and she said “no.” But he saw her once again during the movie’s wrap party, and she was more receptive to his advances.

“We danced, and we fell in love, and boom that was it,” he continued.

Jeff Bridges And His Wife Susan Grow Stronger In Conflict

Jeff Bridges and his wife went on to have three daughters; Isabelle, 42, Jessica, 40, and Haley, 38. And despite the stresses of his Hollywood career, they kept their romance fresh by prioritizing their relationship.

While talking to EXTRA during the 49th Chaplin Award Gala in New York City, on April 29th, the couple shared their secrets to lasting happiness.

“It’s when those big challenges, those upsets come up in your relationship, those are real opportunities to get to know each other more and become more intimate with each other, try to see what makes each other tick,” said Jeff.

Susan also noted that it’s important to “keep it fun,” with your spouse or partner. Jeff agreed.

“Have as much fun as you can,” he added before saying that Susan has been the light of his life, and having her as his wife “makes it all worthwhile.”
