Stray Dog Steals Slice Of Pizza & Leads Rescuers To Her Tiny, Starving Pups.

Stealing should never be condoned, but in the case of this little thief, getting caught is the best thing that ever could’ve happened to her.

A couple months back, employees at an office park in Palo Alto, California, were sitting outside, ready to dig into some pepperoni pizza, when a stray dog approached and snatched one of the slices before their very eyes. It was a nervy thing to do, but she was alarmingly thin, and her nipples were swollen, indicating that she was just doing what she had to do to take care of her family.

The group’s curiosity was piqued; surely they weren’t going to try to wrestle a slice of pizza out of an unknown dog’s mouth… so they did the responsible thing and called the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA.

When their rescue team arrived, they followed her “home” and what they found just about broke their hearts.

She led them back to a litter of six newborn pups. The mom, a terrier mix, was doing everything she could to take care of them, even when she wasn’t getting any nutrition herself.

“This poor little dog was struggling to survive on her own, eating whatever scraps of food she could find and trying to take care of her babies,” said Buffy Martin Tarbox, spokeswoman for the Peninsula Humane Society and SPCA.

The mother and all six puppies were placed in a foster home, where they’ve since been receiving the royal treatment and royal monikers. In honor of the royal family, Mom shall now be addressed as Queen Elizabeth, while the pups shall be known as William, Harry, Duchess Kate, Lady Di, Charlotte, and Meghan.

The pups have now all been weaned and they, along with Mom, are waiting for their forever homes — all but Duchess Kate, who was just recently adopted, according to shelter officials.
