Kendricks is a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army, currently serving as a reservist with the 665th Transportation Company in Millington, Tennessee. While preparing to make his 5.85 meter pole vault, Kendricks stopped his practice run mid sprint, threw down his pole, and stood at attention while the US national anthem played in the stadium. The moment was chill worthy.
His gesture of respect for the flag and his country is going viral for all the right reasons. We all watched in awe as the world famous Usain Bolt stopped his interview in the middle of a question to honor the US and her flag, but to see a fellow American do the same thing was totally awe inspiring.
After Kendricks’ show of respect for his country, he went on to clinch the bronze medal for the USA. The accomplishment, especially while competing against the best from around the world, was no small feat.
Check out this amazing moment of respect and patriotism.
