The couple dropped the photo on their official social media pages this morning, captioning, “13 years ago today.” The black-and-white image shows Kate in her iconic Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen white long-sleeved, lace wedding gown. She’s also wearing her floor-length veil topped with a Cartier Halo Tiara that she borrowed from Queen Elizabeth and holding her lily of the valley bouquet.
Prince William dons his black uniform of the Blues, which is a change from the Irish Guards uniform that he wore for the ceremony. He stands behind his glowing bride and places his hands on her waist. The newlyweds smile for the camera, which captures them with a palace backdrop.
Prince William and Princess Kate said “I do” with the entire world watching on April 29, 2011, during a lavish ceremony at Westminster Abbey. They’ve since welcomed three children; Prince George (10), Princess Charlotte (8), and Prince Louis (5).
The couple’s 13th anniversary comes only weeks after Kate Middleton announced her battle with cancer. The 42-year-old shared the news through a pre-recorded video on March 22. She did not disclose the type of cancer or any exact details. Kate did, however, say that the diagnosis came after undergoing unrelated abdominal surgery in January.
“This is obviously the most bittersweet anniversary William and Kate have ever experienced,” Christopher Andersen, author of The King, shared with Fox News Digital. “Their marriage is stronger than ever, they have three beautiful children – and now they are facing the greatest challenge of their married lives.”
Kate Middleton is currently taking a break from her royal duties as she undergoes “preventive chemotherapy.”
