When one disgruntled neighbor shoved a goose nest full of eggs into a nearby pond, this young woman jumped into action to save the babies! TikToker Hayley Thompson filmed the painstaking rescue as she and her twin scooped the eggs out of the water. While the siblings were retrieving the unhatched goslings, the feathered parents anxiously observed them. Mom immediately settled back onto the remains of her nest to keep her babies warm!
“She was hissing the whole time but still let us do it,” Hayley said in her video.
Of course, even after the goose eggs were saved, there was no guarantee that they would still hatch. Being dumped into a pond is quite an ordeal! However, Hayley and her twin kept watch over the nest throughout the next month. Against all odds, the goslings hatched just fine. This TikToker’s footage of the fuzzy little birds is way too adorable!
“We were overwhelmed by cuteness,” Hayley said.
Not only is it incredibly cruel to destroy a bird’s nest, it’s illegal! According to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service website, the Migratory Bird Treaty Act spells this out in no uncertain terms. We’re so glad that someone was willing to save these goose eggs and allow them to grow up into beautiful goslings!
