Just 19-years-old at the time, she thought at first that she was in a nightmare when she woke up in the hospital. “Emilee, you’ve been in a horrible accident, you lost your leg,” were the first words she heard from her doctor. But you’d never guess she’s been through a tragedy by the person she’s become.
Two years after the accident, Emilee’s spirit is stronger than ever. Though it’s still hard to walk on her prosthetic leg, she just keeps pushing. She also suffers from short term memory loss, hence her nickname, ‘Dory.’ And her leg is named ‘Nemo,’ “Because I have a little fin, too.”
Ellen heard of Emilee’s inspiring story and couldn’t wait to bring her on The Ellen Show.
But even Emilee’s pre-show interview has us in tears.
“The hardest part about my recovery was the recovery in itself. But the best part of my recovery was that it was just temporary – that was just temporary, and look at me now!,” Emilee said. “I am here, I am smiling, I am standing tall and strong.”
That’s just a tiny peek into her inspiring personality. Share Emilee’s stunning story with the world today!
