Instead of turning him down, White took him on a shopping spree, getting Chauncy a full load of groceries and giving him a heart full of hope.

“When Chauncy approached me, it just tugged at my heart,” White said. “Here comes Chauncy, just trying to get food for him and his Mom off of the grace of other people. When I looked at him and saw what he was doing and what he was asking for, I said he was my hero.”

White then took Chauncy back to his house, where he lives with his disabled mother, and was blown away by what the young man’s heart and work ethic. All Chauncy wanted was to buy a lawn mower to help support his mother and provide for her.

“Chauncy lives in Memphis with his disabled mother,” White explained. “He is a straight A student who is doing his best to make it in a world with no money and very few resources. He wants to work and help his mother financially.”

White then took to Facebook to share Chauncy’s inspirational heart with his friends. Little did he know, the story would quickly go viral, and Chauncy’s life was about to change forever.

White started a crowdfunding page with a $250 goal to help the 10th grader buy a lawn mower, but as of today it has raised $276,993!
