Patagonia, Inc. has always been an advocate for the planet. They are a part of several environmental movements, but recently they made an exceptionally jaw-dropping move: they donated 100% of their Black Friday sales to help save the environment.
One day in sales may not seem like a huge deal, but the company made $10 million this year on Black Friday alone. Every single penny went to hundreds of environmental organizations around the world dedicated to serving our planet.
Below is an excerpt from Patagonia’s blog post sharing their plan to donate:
As people think generously about family and friends, we also want to help our customers show love to the planet, which badly needs a gift or two (and still gets coal every year.)
This year Patagonia will donate 100 percent of global Black Friday sales in our stores and on our website to grassroots organizations working in local communities to protect our air, water and soil for future generations.
Most of these organizations are small, underfunded and “under the radar” groups who “work on the front lines” in the fight for our planet’s health.
Patagonia expected to make about $2 million in Black Friday sales. But their pledge not only attracted loyal customers but also thousands of customers who had never purchased Patagonia before!
The $10 million they made has not only set a new record but surprised the company in the greatest way!
