An adorable little girl in Virginia Beach just got the sweetest present from her military daddy. The little girl– named Pia– is just a tiny child, but she clearly misses her deployed dad, Drew. Lucky for her, Drew left a little something to make the separation easier.

Before leaving for 8 months on the Persian Gulf, Drew and his wife– Kelly– built a stuffed teddy bear with a special surprise inside: a voice message tucked into the bear’s paw, recorded by Drew. Kelly waited a month to give the special bear to Pia… but when she did? What a reaction.

Pia could not get enough of her bear, squeezing it and shouting “Dad!”
Drew’s message says, “Hi P, I love you,” and– in the video below– it’s clear Pia recognizes Dad’s voice.

Drew’s absence hasn’t only been difficult on Pia. Kelly is pregnant with their second girl, and Drew won’t get to meet his baby until she’s 4 months old. This family’s sacrifice is truly remarkable… and this tender moment with Pia is one they will not soon forget.
