George and Ora Lee Rodriguez, a couple in San Antonio, Texas, have a love story straight out of a Nicholas Sparks novel.

The beautiful husband and wife met as teenagers and were high school sweethearts. They got married after George returned from his time serving as a marine. Together they raised three daughters and spent their entire lives together– even up until they were rushed to the hospital.
George and Ora Lee, had just celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary a few days prior, but were both fading rapidly. After being taken to the hospital, the pair passed away in their sleep. George went first, and Ora Lee followed him just three hours later. When nurses found them the next morning, they couldn’t believe what they saw.
Husband and wife had died side by side, holding one another’s hand.

Corina Martinez, one of their daughters, told Fox San Antonio, “I just can’t believe something like this would ever happen, you hear about this on the movies… like The Notebook!”
Martinez explained that both of her parents had suffered from dementia, and while the two were in separate hospital beds, doctors were asked that they be put right next to one another so they could be with each other until the end.
