Singer Got Stuck In Traffic, So Cop Stepped Up And Stunned Everyone With Incredible National Anthem Performance.

Singing the National Anthem before any sporting event is a huge honor.

It’s something that is planned far in advance, it’s a compliment to an individual’s skill as a performer, and it’s also an opportunity to salute sportsmanship and honor.  But at one college basketball game, this was not the case… and a very unexpected performer was pushed to center stage.

Just minutes before the West Virginia University vs. Kansas basketball game, the singer who was lined up, Leslie Dorchester, unfortunately found herself stuck in traffic from a snow delay. Thus, the frantic question was asked: “Can anyone sing!?”

That’s when Officer Carlton Smith stepped into the line of duty, so to speak. With only 5 minutes warning, Smith warmed up to sing right before tip off. And he nailed it! The officer gave a smooth rendition of the Star Spangled Banner that dazzled the crowd.

But this wasn’t his first time in the spotlight. Some fans might remember that the officer was a 2014 American Idol contestant.

We can all learn a lesson from Officer Smith: Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there – even if it’s totally impromptu. Those times might end up being your favorite experiences.

Check out this great performance below and share if Smith motivated you!
