Lana the puppy was rescued from the streets with her siblings last year, but apparently she never forgot what it’s like to be homeless. While leaving for work on the 4th of July in Ivoti, Brazil, owner Suelen Schaumloeffel captured a photograph that has swept across the world for its cuteness, and also the lesson it contains.

Brazil is in the middle of their winter, so as temperatures began to drop Suelen gave Lana a thick, warm blanket, tucked her in tight and went to sleep for the night.

While Suelen slept, her beloved pup decided to share the warmth with an apparent street dog… and the two shared the blanket as close as can be.

“Last night, before bed, we tucked the cover of the Lana in the little house so she could curl up and sleep,”Suelen writes in her post. “Seeing the friend without a home and cold, Lana did not hesitate to share the blanket.â€

The adorable photo has gone viral for all the right reasons. Not only did it show amazing empathy from one pupper to another, but it showed us all one of the purest expressions of kindness imaginable.

Suelen ends her post with a plea for her human brothers and sisters to treat each other like Lana treated her friend. If we all made an effort to love each other more than ourselves, this world would be a beautiful, beautiful place.
