In the midst of uncertainty and fear, a man named Mike Yung played his part to help us remember that remember that change will come. In his viral subway performance, Mike sang Stand By Me to project and encourage us all about the hope we should feel for the world. Life is hard, and evil is all around us, but if we all band together as one, change is going to come.
This time around, we catch up with Mike again at his usual brusking in the NYC subway. His performance of Stand By Me was emotional, but this latest tune absolutely left us stunned.
He decided to perform a rendition of the “Unchained Melody” written in 1955 and most famously covered by the Righteous Brothers in 1965.
Written for the film score of the little known prison themed movie “Unchained”, the song has since been one of the most recorded tunes of all time. Over 670 artists have covered it in multiple languages and with its beautiful melody it’s easy to see why.
Check out Mike’s moving performance in the video below. Don’t forget a box of tissues.
