Instead Of A Ticket, This Cop Hands Out Second Chances… Their Reactions Made My Day!

Police officer handing homeless man giftcard

An anonymous donor in Irmo, South Carolina enlisted the local police department in a scheme to distribute $5,000 in grocery store gift cards over the holidays. The nameless do-gooder has a huge heart for the poor, but also wanted to see his local PD get in on the action… so he gave the gifting honors to our boys in blue.

Officer Andrew Ellison was responsible for handing out the beautiful little suprises, but nothing could have prepared him for the outpouring of love and joyous reactions he received from the community.

Ellison waited around local gas stations, the grocery store and the post office and approached civilians who seemed like they could use some help. After talking about their holiday plans, Ellison handed over a gift card–in some cases a few of them–and braced himself for dozens of hugs and a heap of thankfulness.

Perhaps the most beautiful moment of Officer Ellison’s quest was a homeless man’s joy in helping his daughter buy food for the holidays.

“You really don’t know how much you helped me, to help someone else.”

Here’s the Takeaway: There will be times in life you’re on top of the world and others when you feel like the least of these. When things are good, give back. When in need, invest in good deeds, kind words and a warm heart. Either way, you’ll be richer than you were before.

Watch these incredible reactions below and share if you think our boys in blue need love too.
