For Nick Janevski and Austin McMillan, a recent encounter with their favorite celebrity wasn’t just fun… it led to a life-changing moment: their engagement!
It all started 6 months ago when Nick and Austin started dating. The two 24-year-olds spent every single day together during their first month of dating. They knew right away they’d both met “the one.”
Austin’s mom had raised her on Celine Dion, so she has always been a big fan. One day in October, the classic Celine Dion jam “My Heart Will Go On” came on in the car while Nick was picking Austin up. Ever since then, Nick has always been sure to have the song blasting whenever Austin gets in his car.
Nick and Austin both live in Las Vegas, so when Nick heard Celine Dion was coming, he knew the time was right to pop the question! Luckily, he used to be a personal trainer for Celine’s manager, so he was able to set up a meet and greet with the star!

“I was completely shocked,” said Austin of the moment. “I didn’t even say yes. That’s why her face was like that.”

“We were taking a picture and all of a sudden he gets down on one knee. I froze. I didn’t say anything, I just smiled. Two minutes went by and she got really nervous… she hid behind a curtain! She was like, ‘This is embarrassing.'”

“I just looked at Celine Dion and then we both looked at him… I just kissed him.”
The moment must have been bittersweet for the singer; her husband– René Angélil– passed away in January of last year, but Celine gave the couple the sweetest blessing: “I hope you have a long and happy marriage, just like I did with my husband.”
