Her real name is Nyakim Gatwech. Currently, she lives in Minneapolis where she is working as a model promoting skin and beauty positivity.
Nyakim admits that there was once a time when she considered bleaching her skin so that she would not stand out as much. But now she fully embraces her skin and has full confidence in her beauty.
In a recent Instagram post, she even wrote that her skin makes her magical.
? “the black skin is not a badge of shame but rather a glorious symbol of national greatness” — Marcus Garvey? My skin absorbs the suns rays and my hair defies gravity. In late March, she captioned a photo with the story of an Uber driver who asked her if she would bleach her skin if given the chance. Nyakim’s response was absolutely perfect:
“I couldn’t even respond I started laughing so hard… Why on earth would I ever bleach this beautiful melanin God [blessed] me with?”
