Calista Flockhart Shares Hilarious Story Of Being Unimpressed When She First Met Husband Harrison Ford

Calista Flockhart found lasting love when she met Harrison Ford, but the suave actor didn’t give her the best first impression.

The Ally McBeal star and Harrison are one of Hollywood’s most beloved couples today. The two have been together for 22 years and married for nearly 14. They also share an adopted son, Liam Flockhart. But their initial meeting wasn’t full of butterlies.

Calista told The Sunday Times, that she met Harrison during the 2002 Golden Globe Awards. He introduced himself to her and her Ally McBeal co-start Vonda Shepherd, and she thought he was just some flirty “old man” up to no good.

“I was aware of who Harrison Ford was! But I didn’t think, ‘Oh this is Indiana Jones.’ It was more along the lines of, ‘This is some lascivious old man and what is he doing at our table?’ I was being a smarta–.”

While many people would have been beside themselves if they had a chance to shake hands with the legendary Oscar nominee, Calista was unimpressed. In fact, she had never even watched his most iconic films.

“I had never seen Star Wars, which I know sounds really crazy,” she admitted. “But I grew up in a small town without a movie theatre.”

It didn’t take long for Harrison Ford to get into Calista Flockhart’s good graces, though. The two began chatting and Harrison invited her back to his house. The two danced and spent more time together before Harrison took her home.

“It was very proper,” she shared.

The actress said that they’re still very much in love today, and much of their success comes from having both joint and separate hobbies. Harrison is an avid pilot and enjoys flying around their ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, while she prefers hiking.

In the evenings, Calista likes to cook and Harrison “likes to eat.” Then they often sit down for a game of scrabble.

Earlier in their relationship, critics told them they wouldn’t last because of their 22-year age gap, but Calista said that has never been an issue for them.

“It doesn’t faze me,” she said. “Sometimes I even say, ‘Wow, I keep forgetting that he’s 22 years older than me.’ It doesn’t factor into our relationship at all.”
