Woman With Cystic Fibrosis Shares Cutest Bond With Special Needs Rescue Cat.

Margot Riemer of Israel felt an instant connection when she first saw a photo of Zimes.

Like every animal featured in adoption ads, the kitten needed a good home. But there was something special about this one. He was just like Margot, so she knew she had to take him in!

She’s always had a soft spot for animals with special needs. In fact, two of her other rescue pets are blind. With a life-threatening condition of her own, Margot understands many of the struggles they face.

“I have cystic fibrosis. I do therapy every day, take antibiotics and 20-40 other pills every day, and need to go to hospital once a month,” she said. “If I was an animal, no one would want to adopt me.”

As for Zimes, after surviving a dog attack, he needed multiple surgeries and ended up losing half his lower jaw. Of course, his new mom didn’t care one bit!

It wasn’t until after Margot adopted Zimes that his tongue started hanging out. Fortunately, the adorable characteristic doesn’t affect his ability to eat or drink. If you ask Margot, it just makes him even cuter!

Despite his traumatic past, Zimes loves and trusts everyone he meets — especially his mom.

The two of them have been inseparable since Zimes joined the family. Margot even said his presence healed her, as she’s previously experienced depression.

Today, Margot hopes their story will inspire the world to give animals (and people) with special needs a chance. After all, she’s never once regretted opening her heart to Zimes.

“The different ones are the best ones,” she said. “You are the most creative, the most loving, the most inspiring, strongest of all! Never hide who you are and never be ashamed!”

We’re so happy Zimes found the place where he belongs. After all, they’ve saved each other!
