22-year-old Choi Sung Bong is your average millennial… but for the fact he grew up orphaned and homeless. The humble young guy was left in an orphanage when he was 3-years-old, but ran away after being beaten when he was only 5.

For ten years, Choi lived on the streets of Seoul, South Korea selling gum and energy drinks… completely on his own. He slept on stairs or in public restrooms, anywhere he could to find shelter. The resourceful teenager complete his GED for his grade school requirements, never stepping foot inside until high school.

“I still feel uncomfortable challenging this competition, I just want to be like other normal people. I don’t sing that well, but when I sing I feel like I become a different person.â€

It’s safe to say, Choi needs a reality check – he’s amazing.

When he began to sing, the power of Choi’s trials and sincerity of his character washed over the auditorium of Korea’s Got Talent. As the camera pans from the judges booth to the crowd, it becomes clear there’s not a dry eye in the room.
