Ball State University freshman, Lem Turner, just made the biggest basket of his life! In a pep rally during Welcome Week and in front of 3,000 ‘bright-eyed’ classmates, Turner was challenged to throw a ball mid-court, and in doing so he’d be rewarded… highly.
“How highly,” you might ask? Well, if successful, the men’s volleyball team member would win free in-state tuition for an entire semester… which is the equivalent of about $35,000!
It’s pretty easy to assume this isn’t a regular happening; this is the second time in three years that a freshman has made a half-court shot at the annual pep rally in Worthen Arena. WOW.
Although this incredible story is one of luck, it’s important to remember:
“The best luck of all is the luck you make for yourself” – Douglas MacArthur.
