Sister Maria from the Sound Of Music may have a new contemporary.
Sister Margaret Ann may not have been found frolicking through the mountains with a song on her lips, but she was found in an unprecedented situation. Instead of sitting around the nunnery in the aftermath of a Hurricane Irma, Sister Margaret was on the street of Miami with a chainsaw in hand.
Miami-Dade Police posted about the hilarious, encouraging encounter to their Facebook page.
“One of our off duty officers was happy to find Sister Margaret Ann, of Archbishop Coleman F. Carroll High School, pitching in by cutting trees to clear the neighborhood roadways.”

“As we recover from #HurricaneIrma, these acts of kindness remind us all that we are #OneCommunity in #MiamiDadeCounty! Thank you Sister and all of our neighbors that are working together to get through this! #MiamiDadeStrong.”
And her photo has become a symbol of that caring community.
Through Hurricane Irma and Harvey, we’ve seen people come together in amazing ways for their fellow man. It’s been a wonderful proof that in these days where disaster seems to strike far too often, people of every race, religion and creed will continue coming together for their neighbors that need them.
Prayers are great, but prayer accompanied by action is powerful.
