Man Donates Part Of Liver To Dying Stranger, But 2 Years Later She Gives Him 100% Of Her Heart In Marriage.

There’s nothing like a good love story. We were moved to tears by the story of the couple who fell in love on a double-decker bus in the 1950’s, and our jaws dropped when we read about this husband and wife who found love in a Nazi labor camp. Now, we’re adding Heather and Chris to our list of couples with incredible love stories! Steve Hartman, host of the CBS series On the Road, tells the story of a marriage made in heaven–“It must have been made in heaven; no one on Earth could have dreamed it up!”

The beautiful story starts out with some terrible news; Heather was diagnosed with stage 4 liver disease. The 27-year-old was left reeling when doctors told her she only had a few months to live. “By that time, I could really feel my body shutting down,” Heather recalls in the video below. She needed a liver transplant ASAP, but there little time to find a donor! That’s when Chris first entered her life.

Chris heard about Heather’s situation entirely by accident–he overheard her story in the break room at work. But, for some reason, he felt compelled to do something for this complete stranger. “I spent 4 years in the marine corps,” says Chris, “and I learned there never  to run away from anything. So I just said to myself, ‘hey, if I can help, I’m gonna help!'”

Chris and Heather didn’t meet until after he had been tested and was found to be a match. But when they did? That’s when this story of a stranger’s kindness transforms into an incredible love story.

Chris not only saved Heather’s life, he married her less than 2 years after their surgery. As Steve Hartman puts it, “A year and a half after giving her a part of his liver, she gave him all her heart.”

Talk about an amazing twist ending!
