When Car Bursts Into Flames, 85-Yr-Old Man Runs Toward Women Trapped Inside.

old man and burnt car

We have shared some stories with you before about elderly people doing some amazing things. We told you about Tao Porchon-Lynch; she is 98 years old and is the oldest yoga instructor in the world! Then there was this adorable elderly couple who stole the spotlight at a mall event with their awesome dance moves! But, amazing and inspiring as those folks are, no one has floored us quite like Lindell Marbut, the 85-year-old man who just saved two lives.

Lindell was at his home in Burleson, Texas with his caretaker, when a car flipped over, tumbled off the road into his front yard, and burst into flames. The 22-year-old driver of the car had been driving way too fast while taking a turn and lost control of the vehicle. Lindell’s caretaker ran to the next-door neighbor’s house to call 9-1-1. When she came back, she was stunned by what she saw.

Lindell– who has difficulty walking and uses a cane to get around– had run towards the flames. “When I got back over here this way, he was beating on the front windshield with his cane,” Lindell’s caretaker recalled.

Lindell described seeing a woman’s hand sticking out of the burning vehicle and watching him pull her to safety. His caretaker arrived in time to help him free the other passenger and drag both women away from the car.

“Amazing,” added the caretaker. “85 year old and he drug her into the garage. I couldn’t believe it. He can barely walk as it is!”

When asked if he feels like a hero, Lindell shrugs the title off. “I just feel like an old man trying to save somebody’s life. I’d do it again if I had to.”
