In the streets of South Korea, a new, interactive billboard has been placed on the streets to deliver an important message and make people aware of a serious and very real problem.
The billboard is alluding to the saddening issue of child abuse around the world which, unfortunately, is a continuous problem. Even more so, the violent nature of this crime reaches further past the ‘domestic realm’ and into the very fabric of society. However, because we are aware of this we are able to fight it. Through various campaigns around the world, the important work of child abuse awareness and prevention are growing and addressing the the heart of the crime.
One of those campaigns is this new sign set in an open public place, depicting child abuse as it’s about to happen. It’s a bright image but that’s not just for the aesthetics; this is where the interactive aspect comes in…
While walking past the billboard, your shadow will appear right in-between the child and his abusive father.
When this happens, a message appears directly on the middle of the shadow. This message is a reminder that every single person has the power to intervene at a time of such violence.
Within the text is the Superman symbol, represent the strength we can all have to stop situations like this from escalating further. Within the logo is a telephone number, and under that is text which reads, “Report to become a hero for children.”
Let’s all try to be “heroes” by putting this lesson into action and encouraging others to do the same!
