People Are Inventing Their Own Sports During Quarantine And We Want In.

As the world hunkered down during the coronavirus quarantine, sports as we know them ceased to exist.

All sporting events have been canceled, which means die-hard sports fans were suddenly cut off from the daily commentary, recaps, and games they love so much. Even pro athletes are self-isolating! So what’s a sports-loving fan to do?

Naturally, they’re not going to take this lack of sporting events lying down! People from all over the world have been inventing their own games and other unique ways to exercise during self-isolation. Here’s a run-down of the creative new events they’ve come up with so far.

1. Robotic Vacuum Curling

So simple, yet so brilliant. Why didn’t we think of this?

2. In Spain, these guys are playing table tennis (minus the table) while maintaining a safe distance.

What happens when they drop the ball, though?

3. Indoor Parkour, anyone?

Don’t try this at home, kids. Or… wait, never mind.

4. Squirrel Obstacle Course

This only works if you’ve already got a tame squirrel. Don’t just bring one in from your yard. Trust me on this one.

5. Why play X-Box when you can play with your X-Box?

6. We can hear the Olympic theme song from here!

He gets a perfect 10 from all the judges!

7. Does finding a new Doritos-delivery system count?

We’re going with yes.

8. Traffic Pac-Man

If it makes you happy, go for it!

9. Epic in-home dominoes

The cat almost ruins it, but winds up making it even better!

10. ESPN8, The Ocho, is here to help!

The real ESPN had some fun during quarantine, transforming themselves into a real-life Ocho for 24 glorious hours. Fans of the movie “Dodgeball” may recall that ESPN8 is the fictional obscure sports channel that televised their tournament.

11. Last but not least, what’s an out-of-work sports announcer doing during quarantine?

It’s good to see people thinking outside the box! We don’t need professional sports or a fancy gym to have fun. Attitude is everything, both in sports and in life!
