Brother Breaks Down While Describing Younger Sister. Their Story Will Amaze You.

While most kids his age are focused on typical kid things, 12-year-old Trenton Cochran has a much more serious goal: to take care of his younger sister Lindsay.

Young Lindsay was born with the genetic disorder Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). Its main affects are on the control of muscle movement, according to Genetics Home Reference. The disease is caused by a “loss of motor neurons… which leads to weakness and wasting (atrophy) of muscles used for activities such as crawling, walking, sitting up, and controlling head movement.” Needless to say, it touches most every part of Lindsay’s life.

But his sweet little girl, who has already faced incredible challenges in her life like being in a wheelchair since she was just two years old, is surrounded by more love than any one person could hope for.  Her big brother is there for her through thick in thin.  “She’s one of the center priorities of my life… I would take a bullet for her,” Trenton said. “She’s just my best friend – I would do anything for her.”

Not only is there an indescribably amount of love surrounding Lindsay, but her positive attitude and uplifting spirit are things we can all learn from.

Here’s the Takeaway: In the toughest of times, love shines brightest.
