Military families with service men and women in active duty are used to celebrating special occasions without their full family by their side. Yet every so often, the stars align and our loved ones can be just where we need them at the right moment.
When Jennifer Ann Little attended her college graduation to collect her degree, she knew she’d be doing so without her two grown sons. Both of them are on active military duty, one in the Air Force and one in the United States Army.
Jennifer was just happy to have finally earned her degree after so many years of hard work, but when she stepped on stage at the ceremony the entire day shifted into a celebration she hadn’t counted on. As she strode across the stage, her eyes fell on two men in uniform standing alongside the college’s dean.

Jennifer stopped dead in her tracks when she realized that there, on stage, were her two sons. Both of her boys had managed to get leave so that they could lend support to the woman who had always been there to support them.
Jennifer’s knees went weak as she took in the scene before her. Imagine the shock of seeing two of your favorite people, especially on such a happy occasion!
The military mom managed to collect herself before giving her kids a huge hug, then posing for pictures with the college administrators. There couldn’t have been a dry eye in the house when you realize how many special occasions these young men have missed while actively serving our country.
Jennifer says that her graduation day now goes down on record as her third favorite day, ever. Clearly, giving birth to these two amazing people has to take top billing! The guys seemed pretty pleased with themselves for pulling off an epic surprise visit for their mom!
Thank you both for your service, and thank you, Jennifer for raising such thoughtful young men! We hope they both get to spend a nice, long visit getting spoiled by mom’s cooking while they’re home.

The honor of receiving her degree already made the day special. But the people on the graduation stage stopped her in her tracks.
