Great music isn’t the only driving force behind country singer Luke Combs’ stardom.
He’s also passionate about giving fans an unforgettable experience whenever he takes the stage. And his concert at Southeast Missouri State University turned out to be a shining example of just that.
Kaydee Marie was already thrilled to be in the audience, but what really made the performance the “best night ever” was the beautiful interaction between Combs and a child in the crowd.
The little boy held a sign that read, “This St. Jude Kid Loves You,” and when it caught Combs’ eye, he invited the young fan named Hudson onstage. Kaydee recorded the moment Combs lifts Hudson into his arms for an adorable one-on-one.
After they greet each other, Combs tells the crowd: “I asked Hudson when I had him, I said, ‘Hey, it’s pretty scary up here, ain’t it?’ He said, ‘Yeah.’ And I said, ‘Do you want to stay or do you want to go?’ And he said he wanted to stay.”
Then he makes an incredible announcement: “Hudson, I’m going to send this song out to you tonight, buddy, and you’ll stay right here.” He encourages the young fan to share high fives with the audience while he croons “This One’s for You,” or as Combs nicknames it, “Hudson’s song.”
At first, the boy just beams next to his idol, proudly holding his sign. But he can’t hold back his tears of joy for long. And neither can the audience — or the millions who watched the video Kaydee posted online.
“This man is just amazing,” Kaydee wrote. “One of the many reasons I love Luke. Incredible experience. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the building.”
Thanks to Combs’ sweet gesture, Hudson will cherish that concert forever. As for Kaydee, she’s using the viral attention to raise funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. If you can, consider donating to help other “St. Jude kids” like Hudson.
