We recently spent some time interviewing homeless men and women on the streets of Dallas. Our hope was to reveal the dignity of our friends on the streets who often get overlooked or even looked down upon. I must confess, I fall into those two categories far more often than I want.

We met many great people, often talking to whoever we sat down with for up to an hour beyond the interview questions we had for them. I learned a lot that day, but Joseph’s response to the question about how he feels the most loved will stick with me forever. I hope it does for you too.
“It ain’t the food and clothing they give you… they make you feel like…like you’re not a tramp. They walk up to you and shake your hand and hug you. Even though I might be smelling…but they don’t care, you know? To me that’s love.”
