Cayden went home and told his mother that he didn’t think it was fair that some students couldn’t get hot lunches because they didn’t have enough money. He wanted to do something about it, but he had no idea how big of an impact he would make.
With the help of his mom, Cayden launched a fundraising campaign called “Pay It Forward: No Kids Goes Hungry”with a website to raise donations for kid’s lunches. Cayden reached out to friends and family in the community to help his friends and he even went out to collect recycling on his own for some additional funds.
Cayden’s campaign has raised an astounding $49,551! He was not only able to help pay off his friend’s debt but he also covered thousands of other kid’s lunches!
“I am so very proud of my son,”his mother, Amber Melke-Peters said. “He is only 8 years old and to grasp the concept around this is just amazing in my eyes. He has a heart of gold.â€
Cayden’s has inspired thousands with his simple act of kindness.
We also love your heart of gold Cayden and how you went above and beyond for your friends and others around you. You are an inspiration!
