Dad Playing Along With Kid’s Hilariously Bad Magic Trick Deserves An Award.

As a parent, you kind of get used to playing along with your kids.

Whether that means having a tea party with cups full of air or pretending to enjoy repeated performances of “Baby Shark,” going with the flow is all part of the job. One California dad captured this concept perfectly with a short video shared on the Today show. It all started when his young son tried to do a magic trick.

“What hand is it in?” The child asks as he holds up his hands. In one fist he’s clearly clutching a rubber ball, and you can hear the incredulous tone in dad’s voice as he asks, “What hand is it in?” He can’t believe the kid is asking this because it’s so dang obvious which hand the ball is in, but how cute is this boy?

“Jeez. This one?” Dad asks, pointing to the empty hand. There’s a reason why parents tend to go along with jokes like this one, and that’s because the kids just love it. This little boy throws his head back and gives the greatest throaty laugh we’ve ever heard as he opens his hand to show that it’s empty, then opens his other hand to reveal the “hidden” ball.

The kid’s reaction is totally worth the act! What a cutie he is, and good for dad for going along with it even though this magic trick clearly needs a little more work.

We have no doubt that dad will continue to be his number one fan even after he’s mastered sleight of hand. Watch the world’s cutest failed magic trick in the video below, and be sure to share with a dad who would go with the flow, too.
