Playing in the sand is one of the best parts of going to the beach. Every kid knows the joy of scooping out the perfect moat for your lopsided sandcastle, but for some people, outgrowing the natural art form was never an option!
The video below takes us on a stunning visual tour of five ornate sandcastles that were built around the world. From the religious creations of professional sand sculptor (yes, there is such a thing!) Randy Hofman in Ocean City, Maryland, to the handmade creations of locals on a Boracay island in the Philippines, these people take their sand art very seriously.
Check out some of the most intricate sandcastles, including the world’s tallest one, in the video below. It stood at 54.5 feet until it was destroyed by the elements — just before Guinness World Records could verify their victory. Don’t forget to share these masterpieces to make someone smile.
