Chris Hemsworth Reveals Heartwarming Story Behind His Hilarious Line In New “Thor.”

Last month, Comic Con 2017 had everyone buzzing, but one reveal, in particular, wowed attendees and fans at home alike: the teaser trailer for the new Thor: Ragnarok, starring Chris Hemsworth, Jeff Goldbloom, Cate Blanchett, Mark Ruffalo, and more.

The trailer broke records for Disney and Marvel, racking up 136 million views in the first 24 hours of its release.

One of the best moments in the trailer comes when Thor is forced to fight in a gladiator-like duel with an unknown adversary. He’s overjoyed to see his opponent is the Hulk, turning to Jeff Goldbloom’s Gamemaster and saying, “Yes! We know each other! He’s a friend from work.”

Sirius XM Entertainment Weekly host Julia Cunningham sat down with the stars of Thor: Ragnarok at Comic Con to talk about the film. She asks about the hilarious line, and Chris Hemsworth shares a surprisingly sweet story behind it:

“We had a young kid, a Make-A-Wish kid on set that day,” says Hemsworth. “He goes, ‘You know, you should say, He’s a friend from work!‘”

Both the director and Thor himself loved the line, and it not only made it into the film, it’s now featured as the best one-liner in a record breaking trailer.
