Superstar gymnast Simone Biles captured America’s hearts during the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Now she– once again– has captured our attention and affection, this time from Hollywood on the “Dancing With the Stars” dance floor.

During the Olympics, we shared with you the incredible story of Simone’s journey from foster care to Olympic gold. In case you aren’t familiar with her amazing story, Simone was not born into the stardom and success she now enjoys. Her mother struggled with addiction, and at age 3, Simone was placed in foster care.
“I never had Mom to run to. I do remember being hungry and afraid,” she said.

While in foster care, Simone remembers getting visited by her grandfather. He was always her favorite visitor. So imagine her joy when one day her grandparents asked her to call them “Mom and Dad.”
“My parents saved me,” Simone said.

Last night on “Dancing With the Stars,” dancers were tasked with using dance to reflect on their “most memorable year.” For Simone, it wasn’t hard to choose. Her most memorable year was 2000, the year she was adopted.
Simone danced a Viennese Waltz to the Christian worship song “Good Good Father” by Chris Tomlin.
After the emotional dance dedicated to her parents, Simone left the dance floor to share a tearful embrace with them.
