Mom Plays Dress-Up While Baby Sleeps, Becomes Instagram Star Overnight.

When photographer Laura Izumikawa Choi became a mom to an adorable baby daughter named Joey, she knew her photography skills would come in handy. But she had no idea that her daughter would be born with a special skill of her own… power napping. Mom’s creativity and photography skills combined perfectly with Joey’s napping skills, proving a recipe for Instagram stardom! See, Laura doesn’t post just any photos of her 4 month old, she posts amazing costumed creations of Joey during nap-time.

Laura and Joey now have almost 94,000 followers on Instagram. There Laura posts pictures of little Joey in a variety of costumes; from Disney princesses to Pokémon characters to music artists… And they’re all adorable!

She has dozens of these costumed photos on her Instagram as well as behind-the-scenes videos showing how she created each piece (and managed to put it on sleeping Joey without waking her!). Bomus! Little Joey at only 2 weeks!

Flash back to when she was two weeks old and I was finding ways to keep my zombie state of mind sane and entertained at home. This morning I woke up to find that we reached 10.1K followers and it stunned me. I began to worry a bit. How will Joey react to all of these posts when she’s older? Would she be mad? Would she be embarrassed? Would she wish I never started this? And then I started reading some of the comments written here. Kind words about how these posts of Joey have been bringing joy to your day, how your children and even coworkers have been thoroughly enjoying them as well. I’ve received sweet messages from mothers all over the world sharing stories about their little ones and how they want to do the same thing and enjoy them this way as well. It’s been truly humbling and I’m so thankful that something like Instagram has been a way for me to connect to these new friends.
