Sometimes it just doesn’t hurt to ask, even when your request seems far-fetched.
Damaris Fregoso is a California teenager who was looking forward to wrapping up her senior year when she found herself on Twitter one night. She’d been watching her favorite show, Netflix’s supernatural hit “Stranger Things,” when she got an idea to tweet one of the show’s stars with a radical idea.
Damaris’s favorite “Stranger Things” character is Hopper, the tough but kind town sheriff played by David Harbour. “He just seems like a genuine guy,” she explained of her sudden urge to tweet the celebrity. She was getting very sleepy as she composed a simple tweet to David, never once thinking he’d even see it much less respond.
“How many retweets for you [to] take my senior photos with me?” Damaris asked. She went to bed that night without giving the tweet a second thought, but by the time she had awakened the next morning David had already replied! Not only that, but he’d named his “price:” 25,000 likes.
“I honestly didn’t think it was going to happen,” Damaris said. “I only had 400 followers at the time. Dude, there’s no way.” Yet on the internet, there’s always a way.
Soon others caught wind of Damaris’s proposal and threw their weight behind the request. Noah Schnapp plays Will Byers on “Stranger Things,” and after he retweeted the exchange things really took off. “Out of nowhere a whole bunch of people started retweeting,” she said.
After Damaris hit her goal she was thrilled when David followed through! He reached out to her to set up the photo shoot, inviting the seventeen year-old to visit the Netflix studios in Los Angeles, California for a photo shoot with photographer Tommy Garcia. The professional photog even read the high school’s portrait requirements carefully to make sure everything was compliant.
Damaris said she was “so starstruck” when she met David, but he immediately put her at ease with his warm sense of humor. The end result was pure magic!
you all made this happen! and sorry david that my only words for like 5 seconds were “hi” pic.twitter.com/4WMt35P8h4

David, decked out in a high school sweatshirt and rocking his requested trombone, posed for a series of pictures with Damaris that had the entire internet cracking up.
David later shared a compilation of the images on his Instagram, captioning the funny shots with, “Voted most likely to hijack someone’s high school senior photos 24 years later.”
“Many thanks to @postydamaris and her kind family and @iamtommyg photography for making a dream come true and proving my high school classmates right!!” he added. “I would have never thought that in a million years that I would be able to be in a photo with David,” Damaris said happily.
What a funny guy! David could have easily ignored Damaris’s request, but instead he made the effort to make her final year of high school unforgettable. He clearly hasn’t lost touch with his fans, and we love him even more now that we know he’s a goofball at heart!
