This Couple Adopted An Orphaned Duck — Now, They’re Raising Her Ducklings!

A family of ducklings takes up residence in a couple's yard.

Seniors Phil and Julia Garner opened their home to an abandoned baby duckling in 2021. Phil and his son spotted the bird while on a fishing trip and decided to take her back with them. They named her Freda and set her up in a box in front of the television. For over a year, father and son took turns sleeping on the couch near her; otherwise, she’d start to cry!

Even after Freda took off on her own, she came back frequently. She lived with the Garners off and on, until one day she brought 11 adorable baby ducklings with her! According to a neighbor, she’d laid her eggs on nearby vacant property. As always, Phil and Julia were ready to help. They’re now housing the feathered family in their yard.
