When Walt Disney began planning for his iconic Disneyland Theme Park, he never could have imagined what it would look like today. Walt conceptualized the iconic It’s A Small World ride for the World’s Fair in New York in 1964. It brought together the sights and sounds of hundreds of animatronic characters from around the world. They sing and dance to the titular tune, It’s A Small World, in their native languages. To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Disneyland Theme Park, Imagineers have added some special new characters to the ride. Park guests will now see Miguel and Danta from Pixar’s Coco as part of the ride.

It’s A Small World Has New Lyrics
Disney confirmed in February, it’s added a new final verse to the song. Richard M. Sherman, one of the Sherman brothers who wrote the original It’s a Small World tune wrote the last verse. It was his final contribution to Disney magic. He passed away in 2024 at age 95.
The new lyrics to the iconic earworm are
Mother Earth unites us in heart and mind
And the love we give makes us humankind
Through our vast wondrous land
When we stand hand in hand
It’s a small world after all.
Guests can stop into Main Street Cinema on Disneyland’s Main Street, U.S.A., to view The Last Verse, a short documentary about It’s a Small World.

“My mom’s favorite Disney song and attraction. It makes her cry, because it heals that little girl inside her who grew up way too soon and was an adult way before she should’ve been. One of my most favorite Disneyland memories is taking her hand and singing the song as she looked at everything in the attraction,” one wrote. “She said, ‘This is how the world should be. Especially when it comes to children. I need way more pairs of eyes to see it all.’ She was crying. I saw that little girl and I am so happy to have that memory and moment that we shared between us.”
