The Voice Finalist Sings Frank Sinatra’s “My Way” In Emotional Last Performance.

This season of NBC’s “The Voice” has given us some truly amazing performances. Remember when this contestant performed a gospel song and turned his performance into a worship service? How about the time a Latina singer stunned the judges by taking a big risk with the first-ever blind audition sung entirely in Spanish? It’s certainly been a crazy season, but it all came to an end with Tuesday night’s finale.

One can imagine that– for the final contestants– the last show of the season has to be pretty emotional. After all, they’ve been on quite a journey with “The Voice!” For one singer, Billy Gilman, the emotion was apparent as he started the night holding back tears during his performance of “My Way.”

The 1969 standard was popularized by musical legend Frank Sinatra, and Billy performed the song as a tribute on what would have been Sinatra’s 101st birthday.

Performing a piece we’re used to hearing in Sinatra’s flawless voice is no easy feat, but Billy does an incredible job. As he starts the song a capella, he holds the audience captive… you could hear a pin drop in the room!

The song builds to a dramatic, emotional crescendo, and it’s obvious that the highs and lows of the past season are on Billy’s mind as he sings “The end is near, and so I face the final curtain.”

Billy ended up coming in 2nd place this season, but this flawless performance makes him a winner in our hearts!
