When Christian Cuevas stepped on stage in the final rounds of The Voice this week he brought the house down in a very special way. The 20-year-old singer decided against a pop ballad and chose a song you’d generally only find in a church building. The song he chose was a cover of Israel Houghton’s “To Worship You I Live,”and the response from audience and coaches alike was simply amazing.

The young singer began the song in a soulful style on the acoustic guitar that clearly stirred emotion all around the room. Then Cuevas proceeded to sing the chorus in Spanish while he switched from the main stage to a side stage on the left. But the acoustic performance gave us chills when Cuevas was joined by a choir of people standing below him dressed in all white.
The audience was stunned, but they weren’t the only ones.
When he switched back into an English version of the song, the camera switched to a view of the coaches table and showed Alicia Keys proudly singing along.
After finishing the song, Cuevas was overcome with emotion at the powerful moment and had tears streaming down his face.
The judges couldn’t praise him enough.
“Whether you’re doing an uptempo, fun song or a sad song or a song of faith and worship like you just did, you have the ability to make us feel,”said Blake Shelton. “That’s the mark of a great artist.â€
