Even if Demogoran, The Upside Down, and Hawkins, Indiana mean nothing to you, you probably know where they all come from. The Duffer brothers’ science fiction masterpiece Stranger Things came to an end in December. After five seasons and nearly 10 glorious years, we said goodbye. The show takes place in the 1980s, and Matt and Ross Duffer stayed true to the era throughout. One of the most significant influences of the 1980s was definitely the music. Stranger Things’ soundtrack had some of the decade’s biggest hits. It also catapulted music like Kate Bush’s Running Up That Hill back onto playlists after years of collecting dust in a record cabinet.

The ”Stranger Things” Finale Brought An Oldie Back to the Billboard Charts
According to Billboard, Fleetwood Mac’s Landslide made its way to No. 41 on the Billboard Hot 100 list. The last time the song made the chart was in 2003 when the Dixie Chicks covered the 1975 classic. We won’t give any spoilers, but Landslide plays in the background during the Season 5 finale of Stranger Things.
Per E!, in a new documentary, One Last Adventure, the Making of Stranger Things 5, the Duffer brothers explain how difficult it was to write the show’s finale. The show meant so much to them, the cast, the crew, and fans, it had to be perfect.
“We were getting hammered constantly by production and by Netflix for episode eight,” Matt said “It was the most difficult writing circumstances we have ever found ourselves in. Not just because there was the pressure of we had to make sure the script was good, but there’s never been so much noise at the same time.”
We can’t imagine that pressure. Stranger Things is an epic adventure with incredible music and a bunch of kids trying to save the world. The 1980s were a special time, and the Duffer Brothers brought us back. Bravo, gentlemen.
