Mother Passes Her Baby To Vatican Guards, Who Bring Her Directly To Pope Leo

View of Pope Leo in a vehicle. A Vatican guard approaches him with a baby in his hands.

It has only been a little over a month since Leo XIV was elected as the first American pope. In that time, however, he has already taken on many of his important duties. For example, the pope greets visitors at the Vatican on most Wednesdays. During these visits, it’s not uncommon for visitors to request that their baby be blessed by the pope.

With so many people in the crowd, it can be difficult to have your baby chosen. That’s an added reason why a woman named Megan is oh-so-grateful that her baby was given this special opportunity. As the Vatican guards passed by, she and a number of others in the crowd made sure to capture their attention, with many of them calling out, “baby!” See what happened next in the heartwarming video below.

While Visiting the Crowd at the Vatican, Pope Leo Takes a Moment to Bless a Baby

When the Vatican guards noticed Stella, they knew exactly what to do — as did Pope Leo. Blessings like this are so simple, and yet, they mean the world to the people who get them.

Sure, Stella is too young to understand what happened, but her family will never forget this moment. And once Stella gets old enough, she’ll no doubt come to cherish this precious video. Speaking of which, this blessing is going viral online!

“Two truths and a lie is set for her,” someone humorously writes in reply to Megan’s video. Others add, “I thought he was just going to wave or acknowledge her but WOW this is so cool!” and “I’m not even religious and I feel like this is an honor.”
