In early April, Grey’s Anatomy star Eric Dane disclosed a devastating diagnosis. The 52-year-old actor has amyotrophic later sclerosis, better known as ALS or Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Tragically, there is no cure for ALS, and the prognosis is grim. Most people pass away two to five years after the onset of symptoms. In a new interview with Diane Sawyer, Eric said his first symptom was weakness in his right hand. Nine months later, doctors confirmed Eric Dane’s ALS. It was a blow for the actor, who shares two daughters with his estranged wife, Rebecca Gayheart. But Eric has no plans to let ALS stop him from working and living his best life while he still can.

Eric Dane Made His First Red Carpet Appearance With A New Partner
Eric Dane and Janell Shirtcliff appeared on the red carpet for the premier of the Amazon Prime Video series Countdown. Eric and Rebecca separated in 2018, but she withdrew her divorce filings shortly before he revealed his ALS diagnosis. Eric Dane told Diane Sawyer that he and Rebecca Gayheart remain close but did not specify their relationship status.
“I talk to her every day. We have managed to become better friends and better parents, and she is my — probably my biggest champion. My most stalwart supporter and I lean on her,” he said.
While it’s unclear how the pair remain legally tied, they clearly share a deep respect and love for one another. Seeing Eric Dane with a new woman caused some speculation online. Hollywood gossip maven Just Jared posted photos from the red carpet, and followers had thoughts.
Someone asked, “I thought he was married?”
“They withdrew divorce because of his illness and possibly for financial matters,” another person suggested.
“Ever since I found out about his predicament, I can’t help but feeling uneasy. Poor guy doesn’t deserve such a fate,” an Eric Dane fan wrote.
But this person chose to look on the bright side. “He’s good looking and stylish. Love the Marni cardigan and the whole look.
