Blind And Deaf Dog Guides Visitors To The Beach For The Most Tearjerking Reason.

A two-photo collage. The first is a back-view of Soldier and his dog brother, Skipper, walking down a path on leashes toward the beach. Soldier is brown and with short fur. Skipper is white with a fluffy tail and ears. The second photo shows a smiling Soldier covered in sand after playing on the beach.

It’s always a fun surprise when a hotel or an Airbnb rental provides you with an unexpected treat, but how many include the company of an adorable dog? Lucky for Hannah Brown and her family, the place they chose to stay during their vacation to the Turks and Caicos Islands did just that. Turns out, the family who owns the property have a dog named Soldier who absolutely adores guests.

In fact, this deaf and blind dog is always happy to lead visitors right to the beach. Once he’s helped them arrive, it’s time for this very good boy to splash around in the ocean and relax on the sand. Needless to say, having your beach guide be an adorable potcake dog, a mixed-breed found on many Caribbean islands, is an absolute delight.

Hannah shared a video of Soldier leading them to the beach, and folks from all around the world have fallen in love with the little guy, an effect he has on just about everyone he meets. Although the listing for the property on Airbnb doesn’t specifically mention Soldier, many of their raving reviews do.

Sail Away Cottages, as the property is called, didn’t always have Soldier around. It wasn’t until 2011 that he made his way to their property. It’s no unusual for the owners to spot potcakes exploring the area, but Soldier was particularly fond of them.

“He arrived at our house late one afternoon,” Sail Away Cottages shared on Instagram. “[And] he was still there in the morning.”

In no time, the owners took this sweet pup under their wing. In doing so, Soldier gained a four-legged brother, Skipper. The two dogs loved going on adventures together, many of which took them right to the beach.

“This is how Soldier started his walks to the beach,” Sail Away Cottages wrote. “[He] went every day after his morning walk with his brother Skipper for a quick cool down before the day [started].”

Unfortunately, Skipper passed away earlier this year. Still, Soldier continues to take daily walk to the beach, just like he would with his brother. The difference now is that Soldier is the one guiding others to their special place.

“He is not a BIG swimmer, but loves a little cool off,” Soldier’s parents wrote. “He also loves to float around in the water and loves when you hold him and let him sit on your lap in shallow water … the sweetest boy!”
