Blake Shelton Shares How Being A Stepfather To Gwen Stefani’s Sons Has “Changed” Him “In Every Possible Way”

Blake Shelton Stepfather

Blake Shelton gained an instant family when he married Gwen Stefani, and he admitted that if he could do it all again, he would. In fact, he wishes he could.

The country music singer married the pop princess in 2021, after dating for about six years. When he said, “I do,” he also promised his life to her sons, Kingston, 17, Zuma, 15, and Apollo, 10, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Gavin Rossdale.

As one would expect, becoming a stepfather was a major responsibility, but he gladly accepted it. Blake once shared that he never shied away from dating a woman with three children because his own father happily gained a stepson when he married Blake’s mom.

“I learned quickly, not because anything happened, but just, you know, reading the room, you’ve really got [to think], ‘I have to take a step back,'” Shelton explained to ET. “When people say it’s not about you anymore when you have a kid… I think, if you’re doing it right, it’s not about you anymore. That’s true.”

Blake Shelton Is Already Feeling Bittersweet Over Becoming An Empty Nester

Blake said that his new role has “changed” him “in every possible way,” and he believes those changes all made him a better and happier person. And one of his favorite parts of being a bonus dad has been teaching the boys about his passions.

“I get to teach them the country, you know, and I love that. Whether it’s music, whether it’s literally getting out, getting their hands in the dirt, or being out on the ranch, seeing the animals, whatever, you know? I absolutely love being the person that gets to introduce them to that stuff,” he gushed.

Blake Shelton has known his stepsons for the majority of their lives, but when he officially became their stepfather, two of his stepsons were already teens. So, he’s preparing to send them into the world. The country crooner is already feeling bittersweet about an empty nest.

“If I could have a repeat of these past 10 years, [that] would be perfect,” he added. “Next month, we’ve got an 18-year-old, which it blows my mind that already happened. And in a couple of years, we’ll have another 18-year-old. And that’s… it’s gonna be I guess a lot more alone time, which I’m not mad about that either.”

However, Blake knows he still has plenty of time with his youngest.

“But we still have Apollo, so we have another almost 10 years before we can kick him out,” he laughed. “So it should be a lot of fun.”
