We’ve seen many examples of unusual animal friendships, but this is a new one even for us!
A Reddit user recently shared a video of her friend’s pets, a dachshund mix named Rosie and a magpie named Woodie. Woodie was found on the side of the road as a baby. His mother had been hit by a car and didn’t make it, so a family took the baby bird home with them and cared for him until he was strong enough to be released.
The only problem was that by the time Woodie was ready to survive in the wild, he had already formed a tight bond with Rosie and didn’t want to leave! Nowadays, Rosie and Woodie do everything together, from napping in Rosie’s dog bed to sunning themselves on the deck. The bird even comes and goes like he’s a dog himself!
“The dog and the magpie have become best friends,” their family friend explained. “The magpie spends all day outside and walks up their steps before dark to be let inside to be with his new dog friend!”
