Before losing her hearing, this woman unfortunately never encountered one of the most beautiful sounds on the planet: a cat’s purr. By the time she and her husband became kitty parents, she wasn’t able to hear her beloved pet. However, the woman eventually got hearing aids. That’s when she finally experienced her adorable kitty’s purr!
According to the cat mom’s online post, she was confused when she heard purring for the first time. She’d gotten used to feeling the animal “vibrate” from time to time, but she never knew there was a sound that went with it! When she realized that the cute noise was coming from her pet, she couldn’t stop crying.
“I’ve never heard a cat purr before and it’s so sweet,” she wrote. “There’s this ethereal quality to it I can’t even describe.”
She continued, “My husband and kids are sleeping and I don’t want to wake them up, but I’ll tell them in the morning. I just wanted to share this joy I’m feeling with someone now.”
Being able to hear a new sound after experiencing hearing loss can be a deeply emotional experience. In another case, a little girl with cochlear implants finally listened to herself speak for the first time. Her entire face lit up when she realized that’s what she sounded like!
